2024 End of Year Craft Round Up

Every year, I make many more crafts than I post. I always intend to post them but I frequently put up mental barriers to stop me from actually doing so: I need to wait for better lighting to take the photos, I haven’t thought of the perfect caption yet, I should wait until the second attempt at this before posting…. And before I know it, it’s the end of the year and it seems like the time for sharing those projects has passed. I look back and get frustrated at myself for not following through on my plans.

So with the new year just around the corner, I have decided to embrace the mantra of “Done is better than perfect” in an attempt to properly wrap up 2024. In that spirit, I have rounded up all the photos which have been sitting in limbo for months to share with you all in one go!

One of the part-time nurses at the clinic I work at took a fulltime position at another clinic just down the hall. I put together a custom farewell card for our team to sign. I loved how the little banner turned out (good thing the words “Goodbye” and “Welcome” have the same number of letters!)

After working for over a decade at the same grocery store, my brother decided to move on this year. He asked me to make custom cards for all of his coworkers with unique designs for each department. I decided to use a grocery cart as my common element and adapted the contents of the cart, as well as the pun on top, to fit with each department. I cranked out about 60 cards in 3 days!

There was a “wellness” corner at my university’s library with a bunch of activities laid out for students and faculty to play with during their breaks. A book teaching you how to fold origami Star Wars figures caught my eye. Using the patterned paper at the back, I created this hilariously chubby X-wing starfighter.

It might be a bit of a stretch to call this homemade Poke bowl a “craft” but cooking is slowly gaining prominence as one of my many hobbies. I just love how colourful this dish turned out and couldn’t resist snapping an Instagram worthy picture of it.

There were other projects that I completed but forgot/neglected to snap a photo of: a sympathy card for my administrative assistant, Christmas cards for my neighbours, a birthday card for my grandmother. I resolve to be less precious about publishing in 2025 so that hopefully, I will have a more vibrant record of my creativity throughout the year. Happy New Year, everyone!
